Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP), also called pentasodium triphosphate, is a white, free-flowing food phosphate (E451(i)). In food processing it works as a sequestrant and emulsifying salt: it binds calcium and magnesium, holds water in protein, and keeps texture stable through freezing and cooking.

The largest food use is moisture retention in seafood, shrimp, meat and poultry. It is also used in processed cheese, dairy products, noodles and flour products. We manufacture food grade STPP in-house at our FSSC 22000 certified Bawana plant and supply it across India and to export markets, with COA, TDS and SDS for every batch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grade of Sodium Tripolyphosphate do you supply?
Food grade STPP meeting FCC (Food Chemicals Codex) limits: assay not less than 85.0% as Na5P3O10, lead not more than 2 ppm, arsenic not more than 3 ppm, fluoride not more than 10 ppm. Actual values for each batch are on the Certificate of Analysis.
Do you manufacture STPP yourselves?
Yes. Food grade STPP is made in-house at our FSSC 22000 certified Bawana plant in Delhi. An imported grade is also available on request.
What is the E number and CAS number of STPP?
Sodium Tripolyphosphate is E451(i) (INS 451(i)). CAS 7758-29-4 for the anhydrous form. Formula Na5P3O10, molecular weight 367.86.
What is STPP used for in food?
It is used as a sequestrant and emulsifying salt — mainly to hold moisture in seafood, shrimp, meat and poultry, and in processed cheese, dairy products, noodles and other flour products.
What packaging is STPP supplied in?
Standard packaging is 25 kg HDPE bags with inner liner. Other packing on request.
What is the shelf life and storage requirement?
